Every family session is a little different, but many questions come up time and again.

Below you will find answers to the most common ones — from how sessions flow, to galleries, images and what to expect on the day.

If you're unsure about anything or have something specific in mind, you are always welcome to get in touch.

General

General Questions

  • How much does a family photoshoot cost?

Sessions are £500 whether you choose the studio, your home or an outdoor location. That includes up to 2 hours, a pre-session consultation, a personal online gallery and 10 fully retouched images of your choice, delivered in both colour and black & white. Further images and printed products are optional, and only chosen after you have seen your gallery.

  • How long does a family session last?

Sessions last up to two hours, allowing plenty of time for everyone to settle in naturally without rushing.

  • How soon will we see our images?

Your personal online gallery is usually ready within 5 working days (often sooner). Once you've chosen your favourites, retouching is completed within a similar timeframe.

  • How many images will we receive?

Your session includes 10 fully retouched images, chosen by you. Your gallery will contain a wide selection to choose from, and every image is delivered in both colour and black & white.

  • Can we purchase extra images if we'd like to?

Yes — if you wish. After viewing your gallery, you can purchase additional retouched images or opt for a full session buyout. There's no pressure to decide until you've seen your photographs.

  • What should we wear?

Simple, comfortable clothing works best. Neutral tones and soft textures help keep the focus on connection rather than outfits. You're always welcome to ask for guidance before your session.

  • Do you retouch the images heavily?

Retouching is natural and considered. The aim is to preserve skin texture, expression, and character — enhancing rather than altering how you look.

  • Will our images be in colour or black & white?

Every image in your final gallery is delivered in colour and black & white, allowing each moment to be seen in its strongest form.

  • What if my children don't sit still or cooperate?

That's completely normal — and expected. Sessions are guided gently, without pressure. Children are free to move, explore, and be themselves, which often leads to the most meaningful photographs.

  • Can grandparents or extended family be included?

Yes — just let me know in advance so the session can be planned comfortably around everyone involved.

  • Where are you based, and how far do you travel?

I'm based in Belsize Park, London, and photograph families across London and nearby areas. If you're unsure about travel or location, feel free to ask.

Studio

Studio Shoots

  • Is the studio suitable for young children?

Yes. The studio is calm, private, and designed to feel relaxed rather than clinical. It's located on the third floor (stairs only), but once inside, the quiet, penthouse-style setting creates a focused, comfortable environment.

  • How many family members can take part in a studio session?

Studio sessions work best for families of up to five, due to the size of the space. All sessions include individual portraits and smaller groupings, which are often among parents' most treasured images.

  • What kind of photographs suit a studio session best?

Studio sessions create clean, timeless portraits with a strong focus on expression and connection — without feeling stiff or staged.

  • What if it's dark or overcast outside?

It doesn't matter. The studio is fully lit and controlled, so lighting is consistent regardless of weather or time of year.

  • Are studio sessions good for older children or teens?

Absolutely. The calm environment and gentle pace often help older children relax, resulting in confident, natural portraits.

Home

Home Shoots

  • What if our home doesn't get much natural light?

That's not a problem. I always bring professional lighting, so we can create beautiful, flattering light in any space.

  • Do we need to tidy or prepare the house?

Only lightly. Clearing surfaces and choosing one or two rooms is usually enough — the focus is on people, not perfection.

  • Are home sessions suitable for newborns?

Yes — home sessions are ideal for newborns and very young children. Studio sessions begin from around age two, but I'm very happy to document newborn life at home.

  • How does a home session usually flow?

Gently and naturally. Sessions follow the rhythm of your home — pausing when needed and allowing moments to unfold without interruption.

  • Can pets be included?

Absolutely. If they're part of your family, they belong in the frame.

Outdoor

Outdoor Shoots

  • What happens if the weather isn't great?

Outdoor sessions go ahead unless the weather is genuinely awful. Umbrellas, coats, and wellies often make for wonderful photographs — and soft weather can be very flattering.

  • Where do outdoor sessions take place?

Anywhere meaningful to you. Favourite parks work beautifully, but walks, activities, or familiar places often help everyone relax.

  • Can we do something during the session instead of posing?

Yes — and it's encouraged. Walking, playing, or exploring together helps take the pressure off and leads to natural, connected images.

  • What if my child doesn't want to stay in one place?

That's completely fine. Outdoor sessions are designed around movement, curiosity, and freedom — not stillness.

  • Are outdoor sessions suitable all year round?

Yes. Each season brings its own character, and outdoor sessions work beautifully throughout the year.
